▪️ Rajiv Bhawan witnesses a rush of Congress ticket aspirants; over 200 applications submitted

Guwahati, January 16: Rajiv Bhawan has been bustling with activity as a large number of aspirants seeking Congress tickets have thronged the party headquarters. Around 1,500 application forms have been downloaded through the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee website, apcc.assam.org, while 100 aspirants submitted their applications today alone.

A total of 100 ticket aspirants from Upper Assam, Lower Assam and Central Assam applied today to contest the 2026 Assembly elections on Congress tickets. Each applicant submitted a demand draft of ₹50,000 towards the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee fund along with the application. So far, nearly 200 aspirants have submitted their applications at Rajiv Bhawan and received acknowledgement receipts.

According to APCC Treasurer Dr. Hemhari Pegu, the application process will continue till January 20. He added that more than 400 applications are expected to be submitted over the next three days.

Arrangements have been made to receive applications at multiple tables at the Hiteswar Saikia Memorial Hall in Rajiv Bhawan from 10:00 am on January 17. Sources said that several prominent leaders and workers are likely to submit their applications for party tickets on January 17, which is observed as Silpi Divas.
