Guwahati, January 23: The ruling BJP has trampled upon democracy and the Constitution and has indulged in the heinous act of vote theft in Assam. After Bihar, Haryana, and Maharashtra, the BJP has now begun large-scale vote rigging in Assam, delivering a severe blow to the democratic system.

Shockingly, BJP leaders and workers have carried out deletion and inclusion of voters by sitting on chairs inside a government office of the state itself and using the Election Commission of India’s portal. Taking cognisance of these unethical and illegal acts, the Congress today filed a case against the BJP leaders and workers involved.

n the Boko–Chhaygaon Assembly constituency, miscreants allegedly linked with the BJP were caught red-handed indulging in large-scale vote manipulation. An FIR has been lodged at Boko Police Station against Prahlad Biswas, Mrinmoy Boro, Buddheshwar Rabha, Mridul Talukdar, Dipak Rabha, and certain election officials.

Those named include Zila Parishad member and South Kamrup District BJP General Secretary Prahlad Biswas; South Kamrup District BJP Secretary and BJP ticket aspirant from Boko–Chhaygaon constituency Mrinmoy Boro; South Kamrup District BJP ST Morcha Secretary Buddheshwar Rabha; and employees of Boko Nandini Gas Agency, Mridul Talukdar and Dipak Rabha. The FIR was lodged by Tuleshwar Rabha, President of the Boko Block Congress Committee.

According to the complaint, at around 8:30 pm on January 22, taking advantage of darkness, the accused entered the Election Branch of the Boko Sub-Divisional Office and clandestinely deleted names from the electoral roll while also adding new names using computers. This act of murdering democracy was witnessed by local journalists and members of the public.

The Congress has demanded a proper investigation into the deletion and inclusion of voters carried out through Form 7 on the Election Commission of India’s portal by Prahlad Biswas, Mrinmoy Boro, Buddheshwar Rabha, Mridul Talukdar, Dipak Rabha, along with certain election officials. The party has further demanded the immediate arrest of those involved and exemplary punishment for the offenders.
